Addition videos

Why?
During maths week many of you came to the maths evening in which Mr Yeomans and Mrs Atkinson explained certain ways in which the children learn and use maths at school. With some parents unable to attend and lots commenting on how useful the information was, the following videos have been created. We hope these are useful in providing information that will help support confidence and enjoyment in the maths you do at home.

The videos below illustrate ways in which the children in our school learn and complete addition. Simply click on the link and see how you can support the learning and growth of your child a home.

How to use the videos;
Please note that in order to organise the videos they have been arranged according to year groups. Although this has been done the methods and learning does not correlate simply to a year group. Children may be on a later video or an earlier video, don't worry. This labelling has been done to give an order and not simply an indication of the progression throughout school. So please don't rush through all the videos, trying to get your child onto the later ones. In order to make all children confident and enjoy maths throughout their life they must be secure in what they are doing before they move on to the next step. It's like building a house; if the foundations are not very good then the next levels added can only be so good until we realise we can not build any higher without going back. Please use the videos to support these foundations. Have fun!
